ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Silver Frame Film Festival, founded in 2024, is an international competitive and educational film festival held in Srebrenica and Bratunac, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Festival presents a curated selection of short and feature films from around the world, alongside film residencies, workshops, masterclasses and encounters with filmmakers and industry professionals. Through its programme, Silver Frame brings together established and emerging filmmakers, students, local communities and international guests, creating a space for cinema, artistic exchange and dialogue.
WHY
"SILVER FRAME"
Srebrenica derives its name from the word “ srebro” (silver), in Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian. The town was named for the silver and other ores that were once discovered and mined in this region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As early as ancient times, particularly during the Roman Empire, Srebrenica was known as an important mining center.
Its name can be understood as a “city of silver,” reflecting this history. The name “Silver Frame” connects this heritage with a new context, a place where stories, images and creativity take shape.
Today, the name of our festival reflects both that rich heritage and Srebrenica’s new life as a place of creativity, culture, and artistic expression.
PROGRAMME
The Festival presents a curated selection of short and feature films from around the world, bringing together international and regional cinema, emerging voices and contemporary perspectives.
The programme includes competitive short film sections alongside feature films presented through selected festival and institutional partnerships.
Film selections are developed in collaboration with international film professionals, festival programmers and partner institutions, contributing to a diverse and carefully curated programme.
EDUCATION & EXCHANGE
Education is a central part of the Silver Frame Film Festival. Through film residencies, workshops and masterclasses, the Festival brings together emerging filmmakers, students and established film professionals in an environment dedicated to learning, creation and artistic exchange.
Participants develop new work, gain practical experience and build connections across countries and generations, making education an active part of the Festival experience.
An important part of the festival is the involvement of the local community. During the festival, local women present their handmade work through a small market and take part in traditional food workshops, contributing to a shared cultural experience. High school students from Srebrenica and Bratunac are also involved as members of the youth jury.
SREBRENICA & BRATUNAC
The Festival takes place in Srebrenica and Bratunac, two neighbouring towns in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, surrounded by forests and a rich natural landscape shaped by the Drina River and nearby Lake Perućac.
In July 1995, the genocide in and around Srebrenica took place, as established by international courts. Today, Srebrenica and Bratunac are living communities where people work, create and build their futures.
With no permanent cinema in either town, the Festival creates a space for audiences to experience cinema collectively, while connecting local communities with filmmakers and guests from across the region and beyond.

Today, Srebrenica and Bratunac are also places of creativity, new encounters and emerging voices. Silver Frame celebrates this energy by bringing cinema, filmmakers and audiences together.

STORY
2024 — INCEPTION
Silver Frame Film Festival launches in Srebrenica, marking the beginning of its competitive and educational film programme.
2025 — EXPANSION
The Festival expands to Bratunac, with screenings and activities extending across multiple venues and local communities.

Silver Frame develops into an international competitive and educational festival, bringing together international competitions, feature-film partnerships, film residencies and educational programmes across Srebrenica and Bratunac.
ORGANIZER
Silver Frame Film Festival is organized by Admon Film, a cultural association dedicated to film, education and international cultural exchange.
The Festival is developed in collaboration with cultural institutions, film organizations and partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.
Co-organized with IFS-EMMAUS (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Cortovisioni Collective (Rome, Italy), in collaboration with local and international partners.
