Young filmmakers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region presented their films at the 32nd edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Five films created as part of the Green Film Residency programme of the Silver Frame Film Festival, following their world premieres earlier this year in Srebrenica and Bratunac, met a new audience in Sarajevo as part of the Official Teen Arena Programme.
Green Film Residency is a four-day creative programme that brings together five young filmmakers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Slovenia. Guided by experienced mentors from the region, participants developed, filmed, and edited original short films exploring the themes of climate change and sustainability.
The programme featured MELTING TOGETHER by Ilma Kalač, mentored by Boris Gavrilović; THE KITCHEN OF CARE by Rebeka Bratož Gornik, mentored by Dragan Stanimirović; LAW OF CONSERVATION by Emina Gabeljić, mentored by Corina Schwingruber-Ilić; GOING FISHING by Umma Jazvin, mentored by Isidora Ratković; and DRINA AND SAKURA by Ilhan Zerem, mentored by Almir Berkovac.
Created through an intensive creative process, these films explore themes of climate change, sustainability, community, and our relationship with the spaces we inhabit. Their screening at the Sarajevo Film Festival represents an important step for these emerging filmmakers, giving their stories an opportunity to reach a wider audience and become part of one of the region’s most significant film events.
